Activity Details

Come and explore the night sky with us! First, join us at Makers for creating and learning how to use a planisphere—a simple device for telling you what’s up in the night sky. We will also talk about phone applications to help you observe. We are then going to move to Fort Edward where we will put our planispheres to good use exploring the night sky. You will learn how the night sky changes over the course of the night, how to spot planets, find the north star where ever you are, and learn about characters behind the constellations.

If you have one available, please bring a flashlight with red tint on the light. White light flashlights are not allowed as the wreck your night vision. Red flashlights apps are often available depending on your phone. If you have binoculars or small telescopes, please bring them!
